While Decker thought of herself as an artist from the country genre, the album was created and marketed with a broader market at heart. Decker was adamant with the label for greater control over her music after two other singles failed. Her second album, Boys in the Summer is more country-oriented. Decker had another album that was titled Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy, but Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after the initial two singles did not chart. Decker then was let go from her contract.
